New album on iTunes: Rendezvous with Destiny (with Bob Carr)

by lylechan on July 12, 2012

This is very exciting: this week, the new recording of Rendezvous with Destiny went on sale on iTunes.

And in coming weeks, it will also be available on Amazon, Spotify, eMusic, Google Play, Last.fm, Myspace Music, Rhapsody, Spotify and other digital outlets.

You can hear a preview of the work here.

You can read the background by downloading the free booklet.

My thanks go to Foreign Minister Bob Carr and all members of the great NSWQ of course. And also to the estate of Stephen Vincent Benét, especially his son Thomas, for permission to use the great poet’s words.

The work is written for narrator and chamber ensemble, in the tradition of The Soldier’s Tale and Peter and The Wolf. However Rendezvous With Destiny is not a single story, but a chaining together of many episodes from American history, a subject beloved of both Bob Carr and myself. The text comprises speeches of Franklin D Roosevelt, the poetry of Stephen Vincent Benét and the letters of Abraham Lincoln.

I hope you enjoy listening to the recording as much as we did making it.
